The city of Velika Gorica as an organizer, Croatian Air Force as a co-organizer, with Aeronautical Technical Center as a host, organised in May 2017 first aviation day in Velika Gorica – an event titled “Airshow AIRVG2017 ” and with that started tradition that will continue this May 19th 2018. with “Airshow AIRVG2018”.
The event is combined of two elements – “Open doors day” of Croatian Air Force and the Aeronautical Technical Center in Velika Gorica, and the airshow program that is organised by the City of Velika Gorica.
The aviation day in Velika Gorica aims to promote aviation in Croatia and Velika Gorica as the “City of Aviation – Croatian air center” and under that name the branding project of our city was implemented in 2016. As part of the project, the “Friendship Charter” was signed by the City of Velika Gorica and aviation entities operating in the area of Velika Gorica – Croatian Air Force and Defense, Zagreb International Airport, Croatia (Air Navigation) Control, Aeronautical Technical Center, Croatia Airlines, Trade Air, Rudolf Peresin Aeronautical Technical School, University of Applied Sciences in Velika Gorica, Aeroclub Velika Gorica and Velika Gorica Tourist Board. All the partners contributed to making the first, and now the second, Airshow AIRVG possible.
The speciality of this event is that the Aeronautical Technical Center Velika Gorica opens the doors of its hangars for the citizens who are able to peek into the world of aircraft maintenance. The flight program confirmed Croatian aerobatic display team “Wings of Storm” and program with Mig-21, Bell OH-58 Kiowa Warrior helicopters and more by the Croatian Air Force, fly display from Special police unit of the Republic of Croatia Ministry of the Interior, and ground and fly display of numerous aero clubs, aeronautical companies and enthusiasts from Croatia and surrounding countries.
